early days in gua musang

i've been quiet for some time. yes... it's because i just got my ass down in gua musang, kelantan. it was a hectic journey, very exhausting. it took 9 hours to drive to kota bharu, kelantan so that i could report duty on the 28th january, and despite reading all about Tanah Merah, Kelantan (I was told by the health department of Kelantan that I got Hospital Tanah Merah), i got transferred to Gua Musang.

On one hand I'm happy coz it's much closer to drive to KL from here, about 3-4 hours drive they say. On the other hand, i'm not yet enjoying my early days here. everything here is not as cheap as i have thought. food cost more or less same like Klang. The cheapest house for rent I could get is rm700 per month EMPTY. after some discussion with the house owner, he is willing to re-paint the house and give me two mattress so that my brother and I could sleep on it. well, I don't want to complaint much. I had a breakdown past two days. I only responded to calls and sms from whoever I thought was important. hmm.... whole of yesterday i had severe tension headache and i eventually spent my day just sleeping in the hotel room. not to mention, on going fights with my brother coz he was so stubborn to do whatever i told him to do, like taking baths, praying, going to school.

i just hope in the next few days to come, my days will be better and Allah will help me in everything I do. after few hours talking to my beloved someone, I eventually pulled myself together, wiped my tears, put on my make-up and go out again to do whatever I think was necessary. for the time being, I'm homeless, staying at a budget hotel in front of the Gua Musang Hospital, and waiting for the day I could move into that house which happens to be on Sunday. So for now, i have to make do with what I have. I still thank Allah so much coz I still survive and I met a lovely old Kelantanese lady who just moved back from Raub, Pahang. She is the owner of that hotel and she was the one who helped me find that house. She is very friendly and a very kind lady. I am so grateful for her and only Allah can repay her kindness towards me.

I will update more when I have settled down and when I have the time. for now, adioss... mmuahh!!

PB, hot compression and back pain

I’ve been having this low back pain for almost 3 weeks now. Although I myself am a doctor, when it comes to my own health, I’m usually not bothered unless if it is really disturbing. Now this back pain has come to a point where I think it’s unbearable L I have been taking voltaren on and off but it doesn’t really help with the pain.
Finally, after few months of non-compliance to Premium Beautiful (ooppss… hehehe) , I finally decided to wear it again at work last night during my night shift. Alhamdulillah during the work itself, my back pain was COMPLETELY GONE. My posture was in shape, and for the first time for past few weeks, I could work comfortably without thinking of my back pain. And I could handle yellow zone and green zone BOTH some more!
Today, after few hours of sleeping (post-night), I decided to try on hot compression because after I took off my PB, the back pain comes again. This hot pack is a little gift from a paeds staff nurse who is also my insurance agent. And I really love this small hot pack, very convenient and easy to use J. Seriously this combination of PB CORSET and hot pack really helps ease my back pain, although not completely. After this kena compliant balik la pakai PB. Hehehe...

mc

hari ni keje pagi. mlm td memang badan dah rasa tak sihat. panas2 sejuk, hidung selsema, asyik bersin2. lepas makan ubat, tido. pagi td bgn lmbat. nasib baik sempat smpi tmpt keje on time. tapi memang tak sedap badan. asyik terbersin2 je sepanjang tgk patient. aku lagi sakit dr patient.

panas je hati ni bila org2 yg sihat wal'afiat dtg cm sakit belakang, tapi nak minta mc. masuk muka ceria je. aku pun dah sakit belakang 3 minggu, dgn flu n fever lagi, takde lak ngada2 nak mc. kena marah semua patient yg minta mc dgn aku hari ni. sorry la ye, wrong timing korang minta mc.

tapi akhirnya aku memang tak tahan juga. tanya bos boleh tak balik awal sebab badan aku betul2 tak larat. nasib baik bos bagi mc.

akhirnya, setelah sekian lama tak mc, hari ni aku mc juga.

setelah overdose with piriton and actifed, aku tertido smpi petang and alhamdulillah bila bangun, hidung yg basah dah kering, dan bersin2 pun dah kurang. kepala yg sakit dah hilang (i mean sakit kepala yg hilang, bukan kepalanya ye. hehe)

besok keje malam. weee!!!! happy! aku pun pelik nape suka keje malam padahal keje malam lagi lama.
ok la gtg. ada keje nak buat. good night world!

resipi chocolate ganache

aih... meleleh air liur. sebut chocolate ganache je dah meleleh air liur... chocolate ganache paling best dimakan dgn moist chocolate cake, or u can just eat it with anything u like. bak kata orang, "goreng pun sodap"! (tapi perhatian, chocolate ganache tidak sesuai digoreng ye)

bahannya senang je, ada 3 je:

whip cream (fresh or non-dairy) 1 cup
baking chocolate (bittersweet) 250-300g
esen vanila 1 teaspoon

taruk cream (yang belum di whip ye) dalam periuk, heat it over small flame sampai just bubbling a bit, then off the fire

taruk coklat dlm krim tu, pastu kacau perlahan2 dgn wooden spatula (sudu biasa pun boleh). coklat tu lama2 akan cair. taruk 1 teaspooon vanilla. kacau lagi.

haa... dah siap! dalam btk liquid, boleh dijadikan glazing untuk chocolate cake. memang ummpphh! i have tried with both fresh cream and non-dairy whip cream. i think pakai non-dairy whip cream lagi sedap. untuk org yang suka benda dari susu, sesuai la pakai fresh whip cream (dairy-based)

kalau nak jadikan dlm btk krim, kena sejukkan dulu la. bila dah sejuk, taruk dlm peti ais dalam 1 jam, pastu whip cream tadi sampai fluffy. jangan whip lama sgt nanti dia akan jadi curd-like.
bentuk whip ni sesuai jadi filling cake, cupcake, atau dimakan begitu saja (rasa macam chocolate ice cream). kalau nak bagi dia hold its shape, tabur skit sieved icing sugar lepas whip tu, then fold in.

nak taruk gambar, tapi ntah nape connection lambat gila. nanti bila connection dah ok skit, i will put some picture ok?

RESIPI PAVLOVA

BAHAN:

4 BIJI PUTIH TELUR

¾ CUP OF SUGAR (OR LESS IF U WANT IT LESS SWEET)

1 TEASPOON VANILLA

1 TEASPOON CREAM OF TARTAR

1 TEASPOON VINEGAR

1 PINCH OF SALT (I USUALLY OMIT THIS)

 

CARA:

PREHEAT OVEN AT 100®C FOR 15-20 MINUTES (PAKAI OVEN API BAWAH IF POSSIBLE)

USE CLEAN AND DRY KITCHEN UTENSILS- MINYAK PUN TAK BOLEH ADA

BEAT EGG WHITES WITH LOW SPEED SMPI BERBUIH, THEN ADD SUGAR LITTLE BY LITTLE SAMBIL KEEP ON PUKUL WITH LOW SPEED. BEFORE ADDING MORE SUGAR, FEEL THE MIXTURE AND SCRUB IN BETWEEN TWO FINGERS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SUGAR IS DISSOLVED

HALFWAY BEFORE ALL SUGAR IS PUT INSIDE, ADD SALT (I DON’T USUALLY PUT) AND VANILLA, THEN KEEP ON BEATING SAMPAI ALL SUGAR IS DOSSOLVED. NAK TAU PAVLOVA DAH READY KE TAK, KO TERBALIKKAN MANGKUK TU THE MIXTURE STAY PUT TAK JATUH. DIA JADI STIFF (BUAT DGN HATI2 YE)

THEN PUT CREAM OF TARTAR AND VINEGAR, FOLD IN ALL TOGETHER USING A SPATULA.

SCOOP MIXTURE ONTO A LINED/PARCHED BAKING DISH OR TIN FOIL. BUAT LA BENTUK YG KO SUKA TAPI BUAT HOLLOW KAT TENGAH (UTK TARUK BUAH). BAHAGIAN TEPI KENA TINGGIKAN SIKIT.

MASUKKAN DLM OVEN, BAKAR FOR AT LEAST ONE HOUR. DIA MASAK BILA CUCUK DGN LIDI, TELUR PUTIH TAK MELEKAT KAT LIDI. KURANGKAN BUKA OVEN MASA TGH MASAK SUPAYA PAVLOVA TAK KEMPIS.

BILA DAH MASAK, OPEN THE OVEN SLIGHTLY AJAR AND LEAVE THE PAVLOVA IN THE OVEN TO COOL. ONCE COOL, TAKE IT OUT AND TANGGALKAN PARCHMENT PAPER. PAVLOVA MUST BE COOLED BEFORE PUT CREAM (CAN USE NON-DAIRY WHIPPED CREAM OR FRESH WHIPPED-CREAM). DECORATE WITH FRUITS OF YOUR CHOICE.

Dah lama tak buka blogspot ni. Yelah, past few months have been busy concentrating on finishing housemanship, and alhamdulillah on the 1st of January 2013, finally i become a Medical Officer! selama 2 tahun lebih kerja kat HTAR ni, banyak betul pengalaman pahit manis.

Paling pahit habiaq, yes of course kat medical la. Cuma Allah dan orang2 terdekat jela yg tahu betapa seksanya hidup aku masa tu. Masih bodoh2, banyak benda tak tahu, perubahan budaya dan style, difference in management between Malaysia and Indonesia (where I studied) dan banyak lagi la.... semua tu rupanya perlu waktu yg agak lama utk aku adapt. But alhamdulillah, I DID NOT DIE.. hehe.. yet i survived and i became more mature.

posting paling best during HOship lak, i give the place to ORTHOPAEDIC! I loved all the MO's, all the specialists, the pleasant environment, the nice staffs. dan yg paling best, dapat jalan2 ke hospital sabak bernam dan tanjung karang. hehehe.. (sebenarnya seronok jalan2)

tapi honestly posting yg paling bagi aku satisfaction kerja is ED. Walaupun dari dulu aku sebenarnya lebih suka Anaesth sebab nampak lebih organized dan "cool", tapi tu la... takdir menentukan. bak kata one of my specialists in ED, kadang2 bukan kita pilih path tu, but the path chooses us. In some way, i think it's true. Walaupun awal2 start ED haritu aku agak sceptical, but after some time i started enjoying it, and honestly i gained satisfaction working in ED. During the work itself, i feel so exhausted, but at the end of the day i feel complete when i finish my work. And every day is a learning process for me and amazingly i remember every bit of it. If I feel this way about working in ED, should I be taking ED as my specialty?? Kadang2 teringat Tariq pernah cakap, dia rasa ED sesuai for me walaupun masa tu aku memang tak nak masuk ED. Hohohoho!!!!

But overall, HTAR is the place to remember. Although I definitely don't want to come back to HTAR as a working place, I am still thankful I put HTAR as my third choice masa awal2 minta placement dulu. I can hate this place for all its flaws, but this is the place that makes me what I am today :)
